Friends of Richmondshire Choral Society

The Friends of Richmondshire Choral Society provide extra financial support to the choir to enable them to have those extra reserves to bring in special soloists, or instrumentalists including hiring instruments such as a harpsichord, when a performance requires it.

Membership is open to anyone including choir members and their families. For full details see the Friends pages.

Other Choirs - are you looking for something different for Christmas?

See details of a lovely cantata by one of our members. It is called Jubilate Natale and we sang it at our Christmas 2017 concert, for which it earned a standing ovation. It is quite challenging in places and needs good soprano and baritone soloists.

Fundraising

We've got a new way to help raise funds for the choir and its costs you nothing. If you are shopping online - especially as we now prepare for Christmas - go first to our EasyFundraiser page and link to your chosen store from there. That will earn the choir a small percentage of what you spend. You'll need to sign up for an account with EasyFundraiser but it costs nothing and they assure us there are no ads to annoy you. You can sign up for a reminder to go to the EasyFundraiser site when you go online for shopping. We'd apreciate any comments from you about how it works for you. If you like it please encourage your friends and family to raise money for us too.

We are now also linked to Amazon Smile so yo can donate to us by shopping on Amazon too.

Thanks to Richmond Town Council

Thanks to a generous donation from Richmond Town Council we were able to get the safety steps now required at St Mary's. Full story here.

Thanks to the Company of Grocers, Mercers and Haberdashers of Richmond

Thanks to a generous donation from the Company of Grocers, Mercers and Haberdashers of Richmond, an ancient guild of local tradesmen, the choir has a new flexible piece of staging to replace the ramp access to the upper levels which had never been used and took up a useful space for singer seating. It can be seen top left with the existing staging. The carpet is a slightly different colour which is only to be expected after over 20 years.

We are most grateful to one of our members who is a member of the Company and pleaded our case at their meeting.

Featured Event

Our first concert of the 2026-27 season is on Saturday 21st November. This exciting collaboration with the Richmond Chamber Orchestra brings together three extraordinary choral and orchestral pieces that Mozart wrote at the end of his short and unbelievably productive life. We are joined by Katie Rawson, who will perform one of his most beautiful concertos, the only one he wrote for the clarinet. The exquisite motet Ave Verum Corpus begins the evening, and the concert ends with the dramatic Requiem, unfinished at the composer's death and completed by his pupil Sussmayer.

We look forward to seeing you at St Mary's Church, Richmond.
